Bursting out...nature

The beautiful Californian Eucalyptus trees were a source of inspiration on my  daily walks on the CalArts campus. The bark contorted and buckled - it literally shed and dripped onto the ground below. During my walks, I gathered the spirals of bark  and conducted various experiments in my studio including crushing the bark to release the aromatic fragrance. From my perspective the tree appeared to be a metaphor for the seismic activity in California; we know that it is there, the energy from within will burst forth - but no one knows when.
