Haines is concerned with the exploration and ontology of sensory landscapes in the quest to capture fugitive essence. She is concerned with making things visible that are not normally visible to the human eye such as minerals found in Cornish water. Haines transforms objects and juxtaposes them outside of their context to become a delivery system of the concept of fugitive essence.
Fiona Haines residency at The California Institute for the Arts (CalArts), Los Angeles, will take place in from May – June 2017.
